Ar. Amina Ahmed Nur is an accomplished architect and urban planner with a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning. She currently serves as the Head of the Architecture Department at SIMAD University in Mogadishu, Somalia. With extensive experience in architectural education, she has led the development of innovative curricula, mentored students, and fostered collaborations that strengthen academic and professional practice in the built environment. Her research focuses on sustainable development, urban resilience, and green building design, with particular attention to climate adaptive architecture and affordable housing in post conflict urban contexts. As an advocate for environmentally responsible urban planning, Ar. Amina plays a vital role in shaping future architects and planners to meet the challenges of Somalia’s rapid urbanization. Her academic contributions aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice while promoting sustainable, inclusive growth in Somali cities.
